We’re full of love this month!

The launch of a gorgeous new colour for one of our best-selling bras is where it all started – we hope you fall in love with Maisie Rouge, a beautiful wine red, as much as we have.

But before we skip off into the sunset with our new arrival, let’s remember that all lingerie deserves our love. At Royce, we’re not about quick flings – we create bras using high-quality materials in classic styles to ensure they stand the test of time.

If you give your lingerie some care and attention, you’ll enjoy a beautiful relationship for a long time. Here’s how:

Find ‘the one’ (aka the perfect fit)

A correctly fitted bra will be comfortable to wear.

A lasting relationship starts with the right match, but too many women seem to be coupling up with the wrong bras – underwear that is, literally, the wrong fit for them.

Even the fabulous Gillian Anderson recently declared she was ditching bras for good as they are “too [bleep] uncomfortable”! Countless women agreed that they too can’t wait until they get home each day to ditch the bra and feel free. Bras are being deemed restrictive and simply “not good for us”.

Now, we love you Gillian, but if your bras were well-designed and properly fitted you won’t be desperate to take them off. A great fitting bra doesn’t just fit like a glove – it makes you feel even better than going braless.

How often should you get fitted for a bra?

If possible, always get fitted regularly (every six months or so) by a professional. Use our stockist locator below to find your nearest professional bra fitter.

Or if you’re trying on at home, follow our DIY fitting guide for the key areas to examine (ask yourself, do you bulge/spill out of your cups? Do the cups gape? Does the band ride up at the back? Or is it too tight or too loose?)

How to wash and store your bras

If you look after your bra, your bra will look after you.

Here are some quick and simple tips to help your bra do a wonderful job for longer:

  • You don’t need to wash your bra after every single wear. Fabric gradually deteriorates with every wash and dry so avoid over-washing. Unless it’s particularly sweaty and grimy you can wear a bra 2-4 times before washing.
  • Handwash whenever possible – washing machines eat up energy and give your delicates a rough time – and it need take only 10 minutes. Use lukewarm water and a small dash of eco-friendly detergent; soak your bras for five minutes (longer if you can), then gently squeeze (avoid wringing to protect the elastic and any moulded cups) and rinse with cool, clean water.
  • If you do need to put them in the washing machine (we all do now and then!) make sure you wash on a cool, delicate cycle (Royce bras are designed to be washed at 30 degrees). Fasten all hooks and pop in a mesh laundry bag to protect other clothes from getting snagged.
  • Never put your bras in the tumble dryer! Heat destroys fibres such as spandex, Lycra and elastic, so air dry whenever possible – even a sports bra can survive an air dry after gentle exercise.
  • Avoid hanging bras by their straps (even a small amount of moisture will act as a weight that pulls down on elasticated straps) and peg on a line or arrange on a clothes horse by the centre of the bra. Reshape padded bras while still damp to help retain their shape.
  • Dedicate adequate drawer space to your bras so they don’t end up squashedmisshapen and damaged. Fold moulded cup bras and stack against each other to help maintain the shape.
  • Keep drawers (and the rest of your wardrobe) smelling fresh and free from moths by using natural repellents such as mint leaves, cedarwood rings or cotton wool soaked in a few drops of lavender or peppermint essential oil.

…and this is how your bra will love you back

Give a little love and your bra will give a whole lot back to you. A well-fitted bra will provide a beautiful shape under clothing so you look good and feel great.

But more importantly it will be providing the right support – minimising damage to the delicate breast tissue and relieving problems such as back and neck pain.

A good bra definitely isn’t one you’re desperate to ditch at the end of the day. When you find ‘the one’, you won’t want to be parted!
