Recycle your bras!

Don’t make the mistake of thinking your old bras belong in the bin. There is life in them yet! Recycle, recycle, recycle. But how? We’ll explain.
Since 2012, we’ve been working with a charity called Against Breast Cancer (ABC) and BCR Global Textiles, which re-uses and recycles textiles for use in Africa, to give women the chance to recycle their bras via The Bra Bank. For every tonne of textiles collected – which equates to just 9,000 bras – BCR donates £1,000 to ABC. By donating your old bras, you’re doing your bit for the environment while fundraising at the same time!
Currently, less than one per cent of clothing is recycled and 350,000 tonnes of textiles go to landfill in the UK each year – that’s 50 lorry loads a day. There are 30 million women in this country so, if we all did our bit, imagine the difference we could make. Even if we just recycled our bras, the impact would be huge!
