Clearing out those old, worn out bras, taking stock and neatly organising the ones which actually support you will not only extend the life of your bras but will bring a huge sense of satisfaction.

1. Out with the old

Empty the entire contents of your underwear drawer onto a large surface such as the bed. Go through every item and throw the items that don’t fit or you don’t wear into their own separate pile.

2. Recycle

Don’t make the mistake of thinking your old bras belong in the bin. There is life in them yet! Since 2012, we’ve been working with a local charity which re-uses and recycles textiles for use in Africa. By sending your unwanted bras to a Bra Bank, you’re doing your bit for the environment while fundraising at the same time! Whilst in lockdown we’d recommend putting these old bras to one side ready to take to a recycling bin once safe to do so. Click the button below to find out where your nearest Bra Bank is.

3. Storing: Non-padded bras

Wirefree sports bras and non-padded wirefree bras are fine to fold. We suggest doing up the hook and eye and folding the bra twice or rolling them. For wired bras, you can fold these once at the centre front and stack neatly one behind the other.

4. Storing: Padded bras

For padded bras, we suggest laying them flat, doing up the hook and eye and stacking them against each other. This will hold their shape, prevent the padding from dimpling and make them last longer.

5. Knickers

When it comes to folding your knickers, lay them flat with the front side down, fold the sides in and the bottom to meet the top. Stack them neatly in one section of your drawers. This will reduce the amount of space they take up and will make finding those lingerie sets much easier.

A great way to organise your underwear is by colour. Keeping dark colours together and your lighter colours such a white and nudes together. If you have lots of different colours you could even arrange them in rainbow order, or as close as possible (who hasn’t got time for this?!).
