When Royce was born in the dining room of an Oxfordshire home back in 1991, it all began with a few rolls of white cotton and some carefully hand-drawn patterns. In fact, a white nursing bra was Royce’s first ever product to go on the market and we continue to sell thousands of non-wired white bras today.

Who doesn’t love the feeling of putting on a clean, white bra or pair of knickers? Of course, we know they’re not suitable for every occasion and there is an abundance of other styles and colours available in today’s lingerie world, but the white bra stands strong and still has its place.

Our top 5 picks of wirefree white bras:

Comfi-Bra continues to uphold the number one best-seller spot: a front-fastening bra made from 98% Pima cotton.

Impact Free adjustable fit ticks the box of the white sports bra

Grace is our best selling high content support bra

Charlotte Nursing offers great support for larger cups and is available in DD-K cup sizes

Robyn is a popular classic bra with firm support and beautiful embroidered edging

How do you stop white bras going grey?

We realise that whites don’t always stay white. They can even start to take on interesting shades of blue or grey if accidentally thrown in the washing machine with the wrong load.

So here are some tips to ensure that your white bras last as long as possible and retain the comfort, quality and brightness they started with…

  • Our garments can be safely machine washed on a cool (30 degrees), delicate/gentle cycle or hand washed. Not only is a 30 degree wash gentle on the fabric, but it is a more sustainable option, using less energy.
  • Always separate your darks, lights, and whites to avoid colour bleeding. This is especially true for keeping your whites white.
  • We recommend that your bras are placed in a lingerie or mesh bag and that all hooks are done up before placing them into the washing machine. This will protect them from other items of clothing in the machine, as well as preventing the hooks from catching on anything else you may have in there.
  • Dry your garments naturally. Bras should not be tumble dried to preserve the fabric. Air dry your garments outside where you can and the sunshine will help to brighten those whites.
